Subject: Temperature gauge problem finally solved
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Thanks to those who posted me email replies to my question a couple of weeks ago about the temperature gauge that read at the top of the scale all the time after some electrical work was done. Some of you asked me to get back to the listserv with results, so here they are.

I took all the different suggestions people sent me to my mechanic. He worked on the car again yesterday and today. They looked at everything that was suggested, and none of it worked. Then they took out the cluster and hooked up an Audi cluster instead and everything read fine! So it was as though the output was too high for the VW cluster. So they put a resistor into the circuit and now it works fine. I drove Vanita home this afternoon, carefully watching the temperature gauge as I climbed up Mountain Highway, and it behaved just the way it always has in the past. So I think the problem is solved.

Thanks to everyone again, who posted suggestions about this.
