Subject: A (propane) Fridge footnote
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

A couple of weeks ago, I was crowing about having fixed my (1991) fridge's propane system to where it would light on ONE click of the pizzo lighter. ...... Well, as hurricane Juan blew through Halifax last week, and blew out the power lines, I tried to resort to the Westy's fridge to save some milk, eggs etc.

The fridge would not light?? The pizzo lighter would click (fire) ONCE and then not at all. So out came the fridge again (I can do it in about 20 minutes now). I searched and searched. What it was, was the wire that runs to the pizzo lighter (goes from top of the fridge to the burn box on the left rear bottom) was shorting out against the small propane line that runs vertically parallel to the wire. The pizzo apparatus would fire ONCE, but no more. When I moved the wire, it would fire several times and fire up the propane. When I put my fingers on the wire, it would short it out again.

So I put some insulation around the wire and re-routed the wire, and all seems to be fine. I post this as it may not be real obvious as to how or why the pizzo lighter fires ONCE but no more.

Fridge works fine now (again). Malcolm
