Thanks for all the info. Since it looks like you know a bit about this stuff then let me ask you this. What action , if any , is VW responsible for regarding a specific repair that is addressed in the TSBs? Example (true story) : We took our 87 Fox GL (with over 300k on it!) back to the dealer (Fitzgerald VW in Annapolis...not dealer of origin) in 1999 and they replaced the heater core free of charge. This was the result of a TSB that was issued for that part. The dealer stated that VW had issued an "extended warranty" of some sort for this repair. Obviously this type of service could not be possible for the magnitude of Vanagon recalls/TSB's. I wonder what experiences other Vanagon owners have had when attempting to have a recalled item repaired long after factory warranty expires. -T |
