I have two Syncro with brush / bull bars. My 1986 Westfalia Joker has a really good one that offers lots of protection. I have driven over trees with 4" trunks and only a scratch on the bumper. I think I could take on a deer and sustain minimal damage... Mickey Moose is a fish of a different color - they are BIG and I don't think any bull bar will save you if you hit them at any speed. You can see pictures of this at http://www.fastforward.ca in the gallery section of the Vanagon half of the site. We are going to get some made up here pretty soon in case you are interested.
