Radio Shack has a product, #273-1827, which is a Universal Notebook Adapter. It takes 12V input and ouputs it through a range of 12V - 27VDC. It comes with 6 "Adaptaplugs" to fit many different laptops and according to the manual, available at the website in pdf format, other plugs are available.

Has anyone tried this or a similar product to avoid the DC to AC, then AC back to DC loop to run their laptop or other DC powered equipment?

Sam
