Subject: Shift linkage part
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Volks,

I have an early 1984 Westy with a manual transmission. I have been having trouble with the shift linkage part that bolts on the transmission shift shaft. It is shaped like a "J" with a plastic ball on the long end of the "J". I had to do some temporary repairs to mine today just to get home from work. The splined part that connects to the transmission shaft is worn and loose and the plastic ball got driven up the metal shaft about 1/8" and I had to drill a retaining pin into it to make it stay in place. Does VW still make this part--if so what is its number? Does anyone have good used one for sale? I need one quick.

TIA,

John Houser, Jr.
