Sounds like a cheap gauge to me. Stay away from the $19.95 junk. It takes $65 or so to get a better quality gauge that won't read bonkers if you drop it once. You might shoot 200 if you hit the starter with 24 volts, but the starter would be fried before you got to no. 4.
