There's a nice write up of how to change that seal around the axle flange in the archives. I've done both sides of mine now. Having a seal puller helps. Get the replacement seal from the dealer. NAPA seal would have fit, but was half the thickness of the original, thus I think would have leaked sooner. Also get a new plug for the end of flange. Unfortunately you lose about a quart and a half of that nice new expensive tranny oil in the process of changing the seal. I put that side of my van up on ramps to tilt the tranny sideways a little and limit the loss of oil. Also makes access much easier.

Have a 85 weekender with a 4 speed, just changed the gear oil in the tranny and now have a leak around the right axle where it enters the trans. Looks like there is a seal in there from the Bentley. Is this a big job to change out. I have some tools and can do simple mechanical fixes. Any help and advice appreciated. Thanks .
