And add the fact that temperature protection is meaningless without the ability to carry a significant amount of heat to the radiator. Which water can, and ethylene/propylene glycol mostly can't.

Add the additional fact that water plus glycol at 40/60 to 60/40 pushes the boiling point and freezing point of either water or glycol alone a long way, and you have another reason.
