Hi Jennifer, What a cozy office! And the ocean instead of Muzak... I too have been looking into batteries and solar recharging but I am totally new at this and don't really understand it yet. I did buy a large battery with cigarette lighter type receptacle that powers laptops and small 12V appliances. It is portable and has jumper cables attached. I will add the sites I have been reading in case you want to research too:

http://www.cetsolar.com/solar.htm

http://www.geocities.com/harald_nancy/dualbattery.htm

http://www.geocities.com/harald_nancy/relay.htm

http://www.geocities.com/harald_nancy/isolator.htm

http://www.alt-energy.com/

Please keep me posted on your progress and solutions.

Thanks,
