The thing I don't care for in this conversion is the (considerable) lowering of ground clearance. For most folks, that's probably not much of a concern, considering that Vanagons already have a lot more ground clearance than any mini-vans (and most SUVs). For me (and my Syncros) though, that's a serious issue...as I do get out on dirt (and rocky) roads

Of course my WV driveway (1 3/4 miles long) has been regraded this year and isn't nearly as rutted as it was last year (when it was at its worst...passenger cars would scrape some of the rocks unless you were VERY careful where you drove.)

But back to the conversion. The pages state that the oil pan clearance is 8 1/2 (with 16" wheels). Maybe, but that engine carrier is lower than that in the picture. Still it does appear he's got an attention detail (I question the 90/100 watt bulbs in the lights though...)
