Anybody paid attention to the Saturn ION commercial with the kid about to get married? Saturn states in the ad that the car has electric steering.

It sounds like you're describing pure electric power steering. I think what he's talking about is a hybrid electric/hydraulic system, where the pump is turned by a motor. I've heard of this on race cars, but I've never heard of it being used on a production car. That's not to say it never happened, though.
