Subject: Leaking diesel injector pump info needed
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed

Hi,

A few from this list have responded to several of my questions on the diesel list. But I was searching vanagon archives and couldn't find a definitive answer to whether or not the throttle bushing at the top of the injector pump could be replace easily in the driveway/garage.

There is discussion of a leaking gasket between the body and throttle block, and a discussion of a leak from the cold start valve, but nothing I can tell for certain refers to the throttle shaft.

Mine is leaking at the shaft, running down the lever and dripping onto #1 injector, then on to the driveway our out the back on the highway.

I'd like to just replace the seal since the car is running so well. Can I do this myself?

Thanks,

Jim
