It will leave a stain on the garage floor? Seriously, in later models VW changed the fill recommendation to something just below the filler hole to make it easier to shift, but you practically needed their special tool to figure out where. The consensus of this list has been just fill it to the hole. Shifts just fine, especially if you use Redline and everything else is working correctly. Jerry
