<ramble> Drove up to the Adirondacks this weekend in the '90 Westy. Sure moves slow up some of those hills. We climed two small mountains, Goodnow in Newcomb, and Owl's Head in Long Lake. We had climbed Blue Mountain last year and decided not to repeat it. We did see, and honk at, a couple of dudes in a light colored Westy at the Blue Mt. trail head. So we weren't alone. Owl's head is a fairly long hike, 10k round trip, flat at the start and fairly step at the end. It'll be nice once the fire tower is restored but the view was still unexpectedly grand. It looks south away from the High Peaks area while on Goodnow you can look all around from the fire tower. We ate lunch on the peak of Goodnow and the kids scampered around the fire watch's cabin. There is also a well, a small horse barn and the foundation of a cabin along the trail. Hard to believe someone, and his wife and horse, were living up there on the mountain.

We also paddled on Blue Mountain Lake for a couple of hours, saw a loon and a weasel. No moose. Next year we're getting our own canoe.
