Recently went to Moab for 10 days and saw quite a few of these and Eurovans.
The Elements are so small with little capacity for storage and moving around
inside and the Eurovans are so low. Would be nice if the Euro was NOT based
on the Passat platform as it is not high enough to provide much clearance;
even the 4Motion model wagon is a sedan with AWD, even if it was available
on the Euro here. The propane tank on the Eurovan is very vulnerable as it
is about 8" off the ground. I'm grateful for our Vanagon's. Definitely a big
bias on my part. Although it's not a particularly difficult road, I was able
to go up Long Canyon from Potash Road to Highway 313 near Dead Horse Point
with no trouble at all. I've had it out on the White Rim as well. Could have
stopped at any number of points along the way to camp. Got 22.7 mpg for the
800 + mi. trip.
