Yes. If you look across the tranny, you will see an aluminum cap on the opposite side of the tranny. This cap houses the back up light switch. Remove this cap, and you get at the other side of the rod. if I remember correctly, there may be a C-clip inside there you need to remove, but thats it. Then the rod simply slides out.
