This is a good route if you want minimum hassles.  A motorhome or van
conversion based on the Ford E-series vans would be, too.  The reliability
is reasonably good, if not stellar, but more importantly any garage will
know how to work on it!

(Keep in mind, though, that if you think a VW Vanagon feels tippy, just
wait until you get a big pickup camper on the back of a tall F-350.  They
really leeeeean over in the turns.  The wind area and high center of
gravity are enough of a concern that the Mackinac Bridge requires pickup
campers to be escorted and slow to 15 mph during high winds.)

That's not for me, though.  And it's not even that I like Volkswagens that
much.  My loyalty is to Westfalia.  I love the way they lay out their
campers.
