Subject: Headlight Alternatives for 89 Carat
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1"

Hello Fellow Vanagon owners, Have I got a question for you!

First let me say Happy Friday to all!

I am sure some of this has been addressed before but I am asking again with some extreme specifics..

I have now owned my Blue 89 Auto Carat for 3 months and now realize the headlights are the worst ever.

What are the best solutions to rectify the poor headlight issue regarding quality, cost, installation process and longevity of the life of the product?

I like the square headlights on my late model Vanagon and would rather keep that square look if possible. Meaning I really would rather not convert to the round early 80¹s Vanagon models light assembly with aftermarket lights.

I was wondering how people felt about the www.projektzwo.com products, the headlight kit DE and fog light kits, whether they were any good, cost factor, ordering process, delivery time, installation, experience. Etc... http://www.projektzwo.com/cgi-bin/e-shop.pl?htmldatei=vw.html

I was wondering about people¹s experience with the aftermarket round headlights from busdepot - bosch H4 Halogen Headlight conversion. Which can replace stock sealed-beam headlight and improves lighting. Priced Each, $40 0301600118 . I was thinking of mounting these on front bumper for better brights. http://www.busdepot.com/busdepot/details.jsp?partnumber=0301600118

Goal: I wanted to have the regular lights running with some driving lamps that were low to the bumper as well has as a possible additional bright beam for country road driving. Is this kind of setup possible to do?

I was also thinking of installing a set of headlight relay upgrade kit¹s to upgrade the standard high/low bean and low beam headlights for high wattage bulbs - 400 watts on high beam with installing a 15 amp fuse on the high beam circuit with 80/100 W bulbs. Which kit is the best?

? To upgrade the 2 internal stock lights to the new higher power lights I assume purchase 1 kit or 2?

If I want to have the additional Hella round brights added and a set of day running low beam lamps do I need to purchase 2 more relay upgrades?

What are the differences between all the different upgrade kits I see available: volkscafe.com http://volkscafe.com/index.php?sec=van&VSES=38df13701dc8fcea693a524aa327b9de $40
