I worked at a local ski resort for 3 winters while I had an '80 Jetta. Never got "shut out", and I drove up that canyon 5-6 days per week December through April. Front wheel drive with studded snow tires all-around is primo. Coming down is a crap shoot .... slow works. Bob Stevens
