A whine developing after running with no oil indicates bearing or gear damage. The gear set is extremely expensive. I suggest dropping the pan and checking the ring and pinion gear condition. If it is damaged, then look for a used assembly. Dennis

The final drive in my 84 1.9l automatic went dry and is now whining. The ATF and gear lubes have not started mixing yet, but itıs just a matter of time. Can anyone recommend a machine shop on that rebuilds these? Iım in Rochester NY, so would like to have the work done on the East coast. Iıve read nice things about German Transaxle in Bend OR, but freight there and back would be pricey. Thanks, Binns Handy |
