Marla,
     You will only be in trouble if you get in a head
on collision  and sheerly the bolts will be the least
of your worries.   Drive safely and always look ahead.
I find with these vanagons that if you spend too much
time looking back at the jobs you have done in the
past you do not have enough time to look at the jobs
at the moment.   be well, gary

Okay - so I just replaced my front heater core, and it
removing the
whole
dash, the bolts holding my steering rack on to the
underside of the
dash
that everyone warned me about were slotted.  They had
that cone head,
but it
was slotted so I just used a normal flathead and had
no problems
removing
them or putting them back.  Am I in any danger because
I didn't use
locktite
or some sheer bolts (whatever they are..)?
