I guess I was lucky on my first ebay auto purchase. Bought an 84 Vanagon GL sight unseen from a guy in Salt Lake City, UT, and I live just North of Dallas, TX. Took the Greyhound up, paid the guy $250, and drove the van back home. The only problem was the oil filler neck leaked, but still only used 1 quart of oil in 1400 miles.

My father-in-law called it my fool's errand. I drove it over a year and a half before using it as a donor for a project with my 86 Vanagon.
