A lot of stuff is that way. I sold a Fisher 400 tube amp recently. Got a reasonable price for it, but I could have made significantly more if I'd parted it out and sold the pieces. The final output tubes alone were worth nearly as much as the whole amp sold for.

But...I didn't want to put in the labor, and I hate to bust up complete, working equipment that's in good shape.
