The easiest fix I know. Send it to Palo Alto Speedo for rebuild. A hundred bucks or so for another 20 years of life.

Stay away from Hollywood Speedo. I asked them about a Peugeot instrument once and they said, "No problem!!" Sent it to them, they sent it back with a note "We can't fix it." and billed my credit card for not fixing it. I used to send all the instruments to them, but not after lying to and stealing from me like that I won't.
