Subject: Clutch Hydraulic Questions...
Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII

Hey all, have a couple questions about the clutch hydraulics in my 83.5 Westy. Well a couple months ago, I swapped out the trans...dont know if this info is relavent, just thought I would let it be known. All is good with the trans, but as of this past weekend, I can almost no longer get the van in gear. I noticed that at the base of the steering column, where the black boot covers the shaft going thru the floor, that it was wet there...noticed that the moisture looked as if it was coming from the slave cylinder. It still has fluid in the brake resevoir, and has never been empty. As I am shifting, its a pretty hard push into 1st, and gets easier as you go thru the gears, although, I cannot get it into reverse while the van is running (gears start to grind). I have to literally shut the van off and get it into reverse if I need it. So thats where my questions come in. I have already tried to bleed at the slave cylinder, it helped, but only a little. If I was to replace the obvious, the slave cylinder, will this help, or cure my problem, would I get my clutch back? Is there more that I dont know? I have not noticed any leaks anywhere else, and am pretty sure that is the fault, I would guess some air got in the lines...if there is anyone out there that can coach me thru this, I would be very appreciative. Please let me know..thanks so much...Brian
