There are actually a number of Vredestein tires that are suitable for the vanagon and if memory is correct, all who have used them have been very happy. Check out their web site. Very high load ratings, etc. Harder to find than most. I would have to go to southern NJ or the northern DC burbs to get some. No outlet in Baltimore according to Vredestein web site. http://www.vredestein.com/english/index.html The guy in NJ who sells Vredestein on ebay implied that he could get a variety of sizes in response to an email, but since I actually am not ready to buy new tires yet, I didn't call him to discuss it.
