Strange... I got about 50k kms on a set of non Bosch cap/rotor, and they still looked ok. I just replaced with a Neihoff, as I couldn't find Bosch where I was this summer.

I replaced a 12 year old set of stock wires with new Bosch this summer, but it made no difference (problem was traced to a bad ECU solder joint), and the Bosch are much poorer quality, at least at the connectors.

Is there any play in your dist shaft? I considered pulling mine, but when I looked at the procedure in the Bentley (for the 2.1) I decided not to. A puller is required, or at least something resembling one...

Not sure. The only time I've check my timing (after 8 years), as per the Bentley, it was dead on, so I didn't go any further.

Any good FLVWAPS should have them for about $10-15. Most of the list vendors also carry them. Again, I replaced mine and it made no difference, although many have said these will fail...-- Shawn Wright http://Zuiko.sls.bc.ca/swright '88 Westy 375k '85 Jetta D 263k '85 Jetta TD 482k (retired) ~This message sent by Pegasus Mail, the safe E-Mail alternative~ "Friends don't let friends use Outlook"
