Check the terminal connector at the dizzy. They can break and the wires start to ground out and no spark signal. If the part attached to the dizzy will wiggle, not tight, that's the clue to new hall sensor needed to fix it. When they get old and hard it is very easy to break them just trying to disconnect the plug. I have replaced several originals in the 12 to 15 year old range, so you might give that a bit of verification before going further. This same shorting can and will fry the ignition modules and coils on these high energy ignition systems.
