Jeff:

That particular illustration *is* for an air-cooled motor.

025 115 451 is the breather for a 1.9 ("DH") engine; it's shown on illustration 10-05 in ETKA. I believe the hose you need is part number N 900 725 01, which is an 18.5mm x 3.5mm hose, shown in illustration 22-17. --------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Young '81 Vanagon Lafayette, CA 94549 '82 Westfalia --------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeff Palmer" <icecoldvw@HOTMAIL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Tuesday, November 04, 2003 8:53 PM Subject: Etka helped needed

I wrote last week about an oil leak, and a part that my mechanic can't seem to track down. Got a couple of responses but unfortunately they seem to conflict.

Here's the story. I have a 1985 Westfalia GL with the original 1.9l engine. I noticed the smell of burning oil, and it turns out that there was a leak dripping onto the exhaust. My mechanic gave me the part number and an Etka printout, but I'm having trouble matching up these numbers. The first is 025 115 451. Can someone confirm that this is an oil breather assembly for a 1.9l motor? The other is 391 117 090 2, which I was hoping was for a hose that attaches to the oil breather assembly. The confusing part is, the Etka printout I have is Illustration 10-00, Year 85, MG 1, SG 15, Update 565. Two listees have told me this Illustration is for a 2.0 aircooled motor, and that the part number my mechanic gave me matches up with 2.0l parts.

Can anybody clear this up for me?

Thanks in advance, again! Jeff 85 Westfalia GL 69 Type 3 notchback
