Hi there. I'm finally hoping to get away on a long trip (2000 miles) this weekend, after delaying it because I couldn't get the above plastic coolant connector gadget (from just by the expansion tank). I've sourced a send-hand one that hopefully is not as brittle as the one that just broke!

I've read on the list that these are no longer available new in the USA, and sadly, the parts catalogues also come up 'no longer available' here in Australia. Apparently the setup for the 2.1 is quite different. My mechanic was on the verge of trying to fabricate one when I found the used item.

He had decided, for electrolysis reasons, to try doing it in plastic, using high pressure rigid PVC pipe. Has anyone had any experience with fabricating these things? Or, as the radiator is aluminium, what about in aluminium?

And since I thrive on nightmares, are there any other 20 year old plastic coolant connector bits hidden away waiting to blow up on me?

Cheers,

Bob
