YES! there are a few ways to solve this 1) don't drive the bus. cheap & easy. 2) WHAT is causing teh vibrations? Easiest way to figure this out is to pull the alternator, ac compressor, water pump and ps pump belts. Now start the bus and rev it through the nasty vibraiton RPM's. IF The vibes are gone, then your problem is isolated. I'll bet this is the problem. It is probably not a vibrating or resonating header pipe or exhaust system that some people say.

The problem is that the tiico-supplied brackets to hold the alternator, ps pump, compressor, etc are homemade pieces of junk. I have yet to see one that wasn't skewed, cracked or welded crooked. Also, it seems that ifyou have AC, these problems are much more pronounced than folks with just an alternator.

The cure- pull out the crappy tiico brackets and put in the golf/jetta brackets. There are a few soltions to this. You can use the A3 serpetine belt setup. Go this route if you have AC. BUT you'll need to purchase a new crank pulley, alternator, ac compressor and water pump pulley. OR you can go the a2 bracket route. I am running the a2 brackets w/ ac & ps. I had to put in a different alternator (well, just the pulley is different), different crank pully and different ps pump and ps pump high pressure hose.

Check out the tiico yahoogroups page for pictures of this.

hope this helps Matthew 86 syncro westy
