Tom,

You should probably double check that. The 035 998 065 Hall Sender is for '85 & older Vanagons with vacuum advance. The '86 & later Vanagons do not have vacuum advance, it's controlled electronically.

The correct part number is 052 998 065 (Bosch #: 1 237 010 027).

Cheers,

Jeff www.vanagonparts.com

According to ETKA the "Hall Sender and all mounting parts" is VW number 035 998 065. Bus Depot lists it as "Impulse Sender" for $98.75. --------------------------------------------------------------- Tom Young '81 Vanagon Lafayette, CA 94549 '82 Westfalia --------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Original Message ----- From: "JasonPufahl" <jasonpufahl@HOTMAIL.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Friday, November 07, 2003 9:38 AM Subject: Distributor part question

Hi all..

I have a 1986 2.1 WBX westy camper and am trying to figure out how to get a specific distributor part. In the Bentley manual it is labeled as the Hall Generator. The electrical plug on mine is pretty cracked up and the wires are in bad shape. I don't want to buy an entire distributor if I can avoid it. I called Bus Depot and they can't find it without the part number, I called VW and they have a picture of the part but no part number either.

Any ideas on how to approach this?

Thanks, Jason
