SubAru... and yes, the 240hp EG33 from the 
Alcyone SVX (1993-1996) seems to be becoming 
popular, though only 24000 of the cars were 
built. It is based on the EJ22 four and bolts 
right up to any Legacy/Impreza transmission. 
There is a SVX Vanagon list for these. 3.3 
liters, boxer six, DOHC 24V, multipoint 
injection. I currently have 2 engines, one of 
which will go into ˇyes yes, some day) my 
Caravelle with Porsche G50 trans.

To my knowledge nobody has fitted an EZ30 six 
yet. It's the first engine of a new family, so I 
have no idea whether it will bolt to an EJ/EG 
trans. If not, then I think KEP will NOT have an 
adaptor kit.

The EZ, with its camchain, is shorter and perhaps 
lighter than the belt-driven EG. As yet the EZ 
hasn't been around long enough for long-term 
reliability to be proven, I think, but the EG is 
well-proven. But if it is it'll be a goodie.

The transplant calls for a tough trans... say a 
late Porsche 915 or a 1987-89 G50. The 
transmissions are not frightemingly expensive, 
but need adaptation to fit the chassis. Adaptor 
axles are available, as are CV adaptors if you 
want to use Porsche 930 CVs.

Specific power output of the newer engine is 
~70.6hp/l; the EG33 develops ~72.7.

If the tricks being applied to 2.2s in sandrails 
are applied to an EG33, how much reliable power 
would one develop? 700hp?
