Hi all,

This list is related to vanagons. But I would like to have some info to compare the 2. I am thinking of buying a camper, probably next year. I looked at different options: air vs water, etc all taking into account the price. My question is: what about Eurovans?

I was wondering about comparing late westies to early Eurovan. How do they compare? I could get a 87 camper, all redone, fixed, etc. in excellent shape at 17,000$can (around12kUS$) from a company that restore westies they get in the southern US. That's with a 1 year warranty. Most major parts are redone/fixed (heads, etc.). As well as many joints etc. www.rvwestfalia.com (in french) for a similar vehicule from a private seller, it's probably a 1 or 2 thousand $can less, but it's almost the same taking into account some minor repairs, unless you get a good deal. So I consider this a "fair" deal, I use it a reference.

I have seen some Eurovan, from 93 or that sells 5 000$can more. Most of them with high milage, but in nice shape sometimes.

Would it make sense to go this way?

Are we comparing apple and oranges?

What are the pro and cons? (let's take the syncro and the off road capability out of this)

Is it not a more modern engine, etc?

In terms of repair, are Eurovan more expensive to fix?

Most of you are Vanagons owners, but you must have thought of that I suppose?

JP
