Those fittings in the corner are for the fill hose and fill vent, I reckon. On the inside the studs are sender terminals for the water-level LEDs -- the hole at the bottom appears to be the outlet fitting for an external hose and pump. My '84 has the internal pump but I don't know when they began doing that.

I haven't heard any good news about replacement caps, and I don't know if all the caps are the same. Mine is a two-part polyethylene affair which tries to let the gasket tighten onto its mating surface without a lot of scrubbing along it. If I had to I could make some brass caps that would work (one-piece), but they wouldn't be cheap. Might be able to use an O-ring seal. Mine appears to have 3 mm thread pitch with about 35 mm major diameter. Made by Hella, getting some surface cracking and one possible real radial crack forming. The tube from the tank has 33 mm OD if I measured it right standing on my head in the dark.
