All the diff lock does is transfer power to both rear wheels evenly rather than let the AWD "seek" the wheel with best traction. The problem "may" be with the vacuum line but could be several other things. Not a "no-go" item unless you drive very difficult, steep, rocky, muddy roads a lot.
