How much money is this van costing you each month? I would assume it is paid for, given it's age, and you could put the most basic, cheap insurance on it. If you have to pay a huge parking fee, or license plates are super-expensive, then I could understand getting rid of it. Otherwise, IT'S PAID FOR! It doesn't have much value, so selling it won't be a big windfall. Or, I could be wrong -- you folks value vanagons much more out there. If you need the money for an operation, sell it. You WILL want it back someday, guaranteed. If you have another sibling who would use it, or some other friend to sell/loan it to, or a place to store it, do it. Keep the relationship intact, but leave yourself an option for the future. By the way, life with one vehicle can really suck sometimes.
