I did take my honeymoon in a VW Westy, my old '72.

It did breakdown, on the hwy at Hells Gate (B.C.).

It was tense, 2 dogs, one Appenzeller sennenhund and one mutt. The Appenzeller, as anyone who has had one will confirm, is a very "intense" dog, did nothing to reduce stress levels during breakdown.

The fuel pump "rod" had worn down, symptoms of fuel starvation got progressively worse, fast, ending in a no go situation at fore mentioned location. Got tow into Hope, stopping at wrecker to buy used electric pump which was spliced in while parked in school parking lot. Spent night at very cheap and dirty motel, my hair matted with melted asphalt (product of lying under van surrounded by spilled gas) and I reeked of gas.

This was halfway through our honeymoon, we made back to the island and finished our trip on a favourite spot on the banks of a river, on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

Bliss.

:)

Alistair
