The difference is the spare tire. The alloy wheel spare is wider than the steel. So supposedly you need different hoses in the front to be able to miss the wider spare. I have this listed on my site. However I have never seen the alternate hoses on a Vanagon with alloy wheels in real life. You could go two ways. One, just use a 14" steel as a spare (since you don't have a syncro this is not a problem). Or get the alloy spare and try to put it up in the spare compartment (checking to see if it adversely effects these two hoses). If it does then get the new ones. If not then you are good to go. Just FYI.

Hi folks, I'm researching a jump to 205/70 r14 from 185's. Both Bus Depot and Vanagain list different (and more expensive) coolant hoses if the larger tires are factory equiped. Is this a change I'll have to make if I go to the larger tires? -Matt Sutton 88GL
