Stock Vanagon tranny's come apart under the heavier power and load. Sudhir Desai of this list has doneI think, a chevy V-6. Constantly having tranny problems. But he claims to have a heavy foot at the stoplights!! He has also said that the engine installation is a good one if the driver behaves himself when putting the pedal down.

Regards,

John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
