In the last category, I was very glad to have my van when the big eastern power grid blackout hit. The stove in my apartment is electric, but I was able to go outside and cook a leisurely dinner in the van. We were also under a boil water order, and there was no way I could have boiled water to sanitize it in my apartment, on the dead electric stove.

There's definately something comforting for me about knowing that even if something happens to my apartment I'll always have a dry, comfortable place to eat and sleep.
