Volks, Fired up my new Boston Bob 2.1 last night -- it started right away, no problems at all (blinking alternator light problem fixed; thanks to those who responded). I was thrilled, even though I didn't get to sit at the controls; my girlfriend was watching the tach and keeping it above 1500rpm while I was back feeding it coolant. We revved it to 2500 to force all the coolant into the radiator, and got it bled without any problems. I had put on a new exhaust system with the engine, so after thirty seconds of running the paint began burning off -- thick, acrid smoke everywhere for ten minutes or so until it all burned off. Every now and then during the bleed procedure a little antifreeze would splash onto the cat and vaporize, so we had clouds of white smoke floating though the cabin as well. All in all, a great evening. I'm ordering snow tires this morning -- salt be damned; there's no way I'm going to wait until spring to drive it every day.

Best, d. 1990 GL -- "Mudskipper"
