How many times have you had to weld up the exhaust on your 3.3 subie ;-)

This is meant as an ironic bit of observation and nothing mean spirited

The point is no matter what direction a person goes with regard to these wondrous lumbering beasts there will be issues and we have to be prepared to deal with them with humor and lot's of $$$ (to the point sometimes that hiring a shrink would be a better investment).

I really love my 85' weekender in it's shabby tired old way it's priceless and the places I like to go I'd never take a new SUV or truck for fear of scratching 30K$$ up and maybe worse. Old rusty just chugs along looking for the next camp spot :-)

Having more power is nice, I've ridden in Mr. Slacks 2.5 subie syncro -- WOW, but he has his issues too (phantom tick and a poltergeist in the tach). Karl Mullendores 1.9 turbo seems to be the answer in my book. With more power and better mileage who could ask for more. I think he is nearing some sort of record for coast to coast trips in diesel a westy :-)

Well, nuff said and again, no offense intended
