For the cheap options you can get a chip and add some S&S headers, then get the K&N. If you feel like tearing the engine completely apart and rebuilding it you could even add a camshaft. Ratio rockers help with lift too.

For those who can afford it; install a 2.0l inline 4 and start modding. 145 hp is attainable after the engine is installed for less than 500$.

I might add that your local emissions department can significantly hinder easy power modifications. I.E. cams. Anything else other than cams usually makes the engine more efficient and therfore cleaner emissions and more power. Double bonus :)
