Are Military tires meaty enough? I have installed Michelin XCL and XZL tires on my Syncros in 6.50x16 format. These are 10 ply tires and the XCL even have steel sidewalls. These make the vehicle handle FANTASTIC when they are pumped to 60PSI or so. Even when they are down to 30PSI for back road use they are still decent. 15 PSI for off road there begins to be lots of sideways play. I also have 215/85R16 on my Syncro Westfalia - even with this tall of a tire handling is pretty good. In general, I think if you use LT tires and inflate them correctly and that you don't go too wide you'll find that handling gets better. Has anyone put meaty tires on their Vanagon? Do they make it handle poorly? |
