Hello all, I have been plagued with the high idle (~2,000rpm) when my '88 automatic is in park or neutral. My Idle Stabilizing Valve (ISV) was not buzzing like it was supposed to. Removed and cleaned. Removed right tail light and found my Idle Stabilizer Control Unit (ISCU) and cleaned contacts with no help. Opened up ISCU and found a burnt transistor and a overheated 56 ohm resistor. Ah Ha! Searched archives. I've been at nomail for a long while, so I missed all of the high idle chat this year that is documented in the archives. It seems like a common problem in 2.1 engines. I see that Germain had a similar problem, but did not mail back if fix worked. Has anyone fixed this unit successfully? What are the two thin gauge wires zip tied to the ISV hose? I copied Darrel Boehler with this mailing. He fixed my ECU earlier this year, and this type of repair might be right up his alley, since a new ISCU (251 907 393) seems pretty pricey.
