Subject: Value of complete 2.1L engine?
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

Hello all,

Out of the blue yesterday, a friend called to say another friend is in need of a 2.1L engine to swap into his van, due to gasket leaks in his current engine. Since I have a good running 2.1L, and am interested in swapping a TD engine in, he called me. I'm not even sure that I want to do this right now, and I have no idea what a fair price would be for my engine. Here's the details:

-VW of Canada factory rebuilt long block in 1992. -205k kms since then, burns/leaks no oil. -good power, even compression last time I checked -all receipts since new, regular dino oil changes by PO, synthetic by me for the past 50k kms. -coolant change with Dexcool every 2 years since '96. -gets consistent 22-24 miles per CDN Gallon. (Westy) -new water pump 3 years ago, no coolant leaks ever -never overheated

Since he already has a 2.1L, I would guess that he only needs the longblock. So what's a fair price?

Thanks.-- Shawn Wright http://Zuiko.sls.bc.ca/swright '88 Westy 375k '85 Jetta D 263k '85 Jetta TD 482k (retired) ~This message sent by Pegasus Mail, the safe E-Mail alternative~ "Friends don't let friends use Outlook"
