Subject: e-b*y bidding. who`ll make it $1 ???

Hi All, May I just pipe in & say, that it was because of a post from a lister in WA, that I traveled to Indiana & picked up my 91 Westy. I appreciated the heads up, & got a great deal on it to boot. question; Did someone loose out on the bidding here? :)

Hey Folks -- I've got a request that might be a bit controversial. Let's hold off on the eb*y posts unless you are member of this list trying to drum up buyers for an item of your own. By posting some "deal" you see, you are just broadcasting a deal and maybe spoiling a parts source that a longtime lister has been diligently searching for and watching -- at the very least you can end up pitting subaruvanagon listers against each other in a bidding war. I know people send auction pointers on some of the other van lists, but no other van list I know of depends so much on finding a used part (subaru motor/car) for many, that part source is ebay. By posting, you may just end up driving the price up on, or worst case, causing the abandonment of a suby project. I'm involved in some coffee groups that are heavy into finding deals on commercial espresso equipment -- they use such a policy to keep the peace among group members. The logic is pretty simple. If a potential buyer can't watch eb*y on their own, then do they deserve someone to feed them deals so they can drive up the price for others that have been watching the item since day one? Thanks Tim in Seattle 87 Syncro Westy Subwannabe (and now the search begins again)... PS -- I'm headed out of town for three days, so I can't discuss this in length until I return...
