I've read about 1) raise the front; 2) raise the back; 3) use a bicycle pump; 4) (my) drive and bleed method; etc. there must be as many techniques for bleeding the coolant system as there are list members.

I'd suggest that you find a method that works for you and use it. IMHO the Bentley method is for a shoppe mechanic who has only 1 shot at purging the air from the coolant system, prior to the owner driving off and never looking at the system again, so it must be thorough and complete. I find that my dirve and bleed system works for me as I can do it every 100 kms till the air is out (about 3 or 4 times). The driving will froth the coolant and it will eventually end up in the radiator, or rear tank. works for me. Malcolm
